The Darth Vader Ears designed by Ashley Eckstein were released for pre-order on May 4, 2021 at 10 AM EST on shopDisney and were estimated to ship by 7/1/2021. They were available for purchase at EPCOT in Walt Disney World on May 29, 2021 and then at Hollywood Studios and Disneyland in the following days. These were the first non-designer ears Eckstein has designed for Disney.

The ears sold in parks and the initial shopDisney run featured the sideways fabric tag while the second shopDisney run tag featured the traditional long, skinny shopDisney tag.

The original retail price was $34.99.
